2006 saw the first total redesign of the Miata. Whereas the NB chassis Miata was basically a sheetmetal change, the NC chassis Miata shares no parts with its younger siblings. The engine size was increased to 2.0L making 170hp in the manual transmission cars, and 158 in the automatic transmission equipped cars. Also available as an amazing new feature on the NC chassis Miata was the addition of the option to get a power-retracting hardtop.
