Building upon the immense success of the previous generation MazdaSpeed3, Mazda first showed off the second-generation MazdaSpeed3 at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. A great departure from the last generation visually, performance remained largely unchanged aside from small tweaks to the ECU that changed the powerband slightly.

Along with more aggressive styling, the 2010 MazdaSpeed3 is a slightly larger car than its predecessor, sporting an enlarged front end, and ditching the old ram-air grille in favor of a functional hood scoop. The 2010 MazdaSpeed3 continues the tradition of excellence started with the 2007, and has continued to win award after award from automotive publications.
