Lets face it, the stock plastic under tray is good for one thing and that is keeping water out of the engine bay. What the stock tray is not good for is providing protection from those surprise road hazards like rocks and road kill.   • The skid-plate includes a large opening for oil to drain from the drain plug and has a removable cover for accessing the oil filter. No more being a contortionist to get the oil filter out and dripping oil on your under tray while changing the oil.
  • The 3D CAD designed skid-plate offers a slightly higher profile, which is ideal for lowered vehicles. You can keep the slammed look of your Mazda 3 without rubbing your new under tray off your car.
  • The skid-plate offers a more complete seal than the stock under tray to help keep out water and made to handle harsh conditions such as autocross cones, winter driving, gravel roads, and other unforeseen events while driving.
  • The skidplate has been fully tested to keep stock (slightly lower) engine bay temperatures and allows airflow to pass through the engine bay.
Installation of the skid plate takes 1 hour with hand tools. Complete step by step installation instructions and all the needed hardware is provided with the the skid plate. The skid tray mounts farther back on the sub frame compared to the stock tray via two M12 and two M14 bolts. The extra attachment points keep the new skid tray in from tearing off your Mazda if you have to back up and catch the skid tray on debris or snow.

 The skid-plate is made from a machine finished 0.090 inch aluminum, which maximizes strength, while minimizing weight. It is laser cut from a one-piece sheet and precision bent to shape. The skid plate can withstand a hit from road debris the stock plastic tray cannot. All it takes is one fist sized rock to punch a hole through the stock plastic under tray and ruin your engine in your Mazda 3.
